GetHuman for WebOS

The first version of GetHuman for WebOS devices has been released to the Palm app store. The GetHuman app has customer service phone numbers, email addresses, chat options, and more for major businesses, and the steps for getting a live person – just like the web site. But unlike the site, the app is on your phone, meaning that you can contact customer support from wherever you are. The app dials the phone number for you after suggesting how to talk to a real person. The app also updates itself weekly from GetHuman.com, the collaborative consumer information database. (more…)

Embed MP3 Album Artwork from iTunes for Windows

So I was transferring several of my mp3 files onto my phone to be able to have them to play anywhere when I realized all the album artwork that shows up in iTunes doesn’t seem to be copying over with the mp3’s. So I began to poke around on the internet and I continually was finding the AppleScript: http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=embedart

Palm Pre Plus for Sprint

So after reading around on the awesome site PreCentral.net I found a interesting guide to combine a Palm Pre from Sprint and a Palm Pre Plus from Verizon or AT&T to make a hybrid Pre Plus for Sprint. Well I tried it out and after a few hiccups I managed to get a working Pre Plus for Sprint. Feel free to check out the guide:

WebOS Apps

Well it’s been practically forever since I have had any spare time. I decided to start with playing around with some web development again. In the next few months I’ve decided to try my hand at making a few mobile apps. I recently upgraded my cell phone and now am gladly sporting a new Palm Pre, which I couldn’t be happier with. It was a tough decision between an Android phone and a WebOS device. The Palm Pre is amazing and I am definitely glad I chose this one. Then I decided to poke around with the SDK and was amazed how familiar developing for this device felt compared to just basic web development.

So now as I start playing around making a few test apps and seeing what I can do. I would love any suggestions for a good mobile app if you have any please drop a comment!

Getting Bluetooth To Work

It seems like almost every Bluetooth adapter available uses its own proprietary junk software that doesn’t work. The new Kensington Bluetooth 2.0 USB adapter that I bought is no different. Well this got me to wondering, why install extra software? Why have extra programs boot up and run in the background when Windows has all of this already running? Well the simple answer is to use Windows Bluetooth stack to run your adapter. But how to do this is the real question. After digging around online I found this handy little hack to get Bluetooth working the way it should the first time it was plugged in.

Official Keyboard Test

So as I continue to further my education at college, I decided to get a job on campus to help pay for my endless supply of ramen noodles and attempt to once in a while spring for something slightly more edible. Well my job normally is not too bad, however sometimes me and my fellow co-worker (another student) get some pretty awesome jobs, such as testing tons of keyboards. Well this started as a way to show our boss that we tested the keyboard, then started getting bored and well, read on and you will see how the test goes.

Free Highspeed Internet

Many people don’t know it, but they are open to getting free highspeed internet. This is simply due to the fact that they have a neighbor that is using wireless networking and has not properly secured there connection. Now to begin with, the title is meant more to catch your attention and how important it is to secure your high speed internet connection. It is not legal to hack into other people’s computers and steal stuff, SheerBoredom.net does not condone the use of these tools for hacking. These tools are only here to better help secure your wireless network. Sorry if I got your hopes up, but if you don’t secure your wireless network, you should realize that you are giving away your internet and maybe more information.

DVD Backup Guide

This simple guide will help you backup any DVD movie that you own and also make it region free. Another nice thing about this tutorial is we use only the best freeware software to accomplish this task. This means don’t spend a dime and get all the software necessary to backup your DVD collection. Only thing that isn’t free, is the blank DVD-R discs to burn the backups to.
